This is the world’s first and largest hotel built of snow and ice and it is situated in Jukkasjärvi, a small village in Northern Sweden.
The hotel covers 5,500 square meters and is constructed from 1,000 tonnes of Torne River ice and 30,000 tons of “snice”, a mixture of snow and ice that strengthens the structure.
It features a bar, restaurant, and some dazzling sculptures, especially in the Art Suites, rooms individually designed by artists. There’s no heating or plumbing, but each room comes with polar-tested sleeping bags. The Swedish landmark actually gets rebuilt every year by about 100 people, and this is year number 25. Roughly 50,000 ice-seekers visit each year.
