At the Archipelago floating cinema, the film is only part of the moviegoing experience. That’s because it’s located right on top of a blue-green Thai lagoon.

The Archipelago Cinema is on the shoreline of Yao Noi, Thailand, and it was created for the Film on the Rocks Yao Noi Festival, organized by Tilda Swinton and director Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Designed by Beijing-based architect Ole Scheeren, the structure is basically a giant auditorium on a glowing raft, but it certainly looks a lot cooler than that simple description. Made with recycled materials, Archipelago Cinema welcomes guests by boat, who are then undoubtedly spoiled forever for their local mall cineplex.
